You will research the animals and identify their basic needs.  You will identify what daily care will be needed for each animal.  Your job will be to make sure the zoo has the supplies and care needed available for each animal.

 

Animal Questions:

 

Do you notice a lot of similarities between the care needed for each animal?

 

 

What are basic needs of every animal?  Do you have these needs too?

 

 

Are any of these animals nocturnal?

 

 

What is a Habitat?

 

 

Do you notice a lot of differences between the animals' Habitats? Similarities?

 

 

What do animals need to stay healthy?

 

 

What is a climate?

 

 

What is Vegetation? Is vegetation an important element for animals health?

 

 

Can any of these animals live together?  If yes which animals can live together?

 

 

Which of these animals prefer to live in groups?

 

 

Which of these animals prefer to live alone (most of the time?

In the San Diego zoo website you can follow the links of everything necessary to design a zoo.  You will focus more on the Taking care of Animals, Animal Health and also Managing collections section, but you may find this whole area useful in your research.

Using the links below research each animal to identify their specific needs, complete the chart filling in facts about each animal, you may also follow the link to the animals section of the webquest.
 
You will need to keep your completed chart handy for the zookeeper checklist later in this webquest.  You will turn the Animal's Needs and Data Chart in at the end as a part of your role grade.
